Peach Truck is Sweet Business

Some things just stick with you as the years go by. For Steven Rose, that was the sweet flavor of Georgia peaches. It led to a fruitful business called The Peach Truck, which will cruise into town June 19.

Rose spent his high school years in Owensboro, but grew up in Georgia. When he moved to Nashville in 2010, he was disappointed

not to find the flavorful peaches he grew up with. In 2012 he decided to do something about it.

With his wife Jessica, he bought a ‘64 Jeep truck and started selling incredible Georgia peaches out of it in Nashville. In weeks, the city had bought more than 10 tons of peaches and the Roses were in business. During the summer, the truck tours various states to bring fresh peaches all over, and they even ship right to your doorstep.

From 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. on June 19 the truck will be at Rural King, giving Owensboroans a chance to try them. Rose said everyone who comes out should “should expect a long line of peach lovers, an incredible team serving them, and an all-around great time in the Rural King parking lot!”

“We are also excited to be debuting our first book, The Peach Truck Cookbook June 25,
Rose said. “Folks will have the opportunity to get their own copy at the truck.”

The simplicity of the business allows people to get on board with the idea easily.

“The Peach Truck - they bring peaches on a truck to me, and they’re absolutely delicious. What’s not to love?” said Rose. “We feel like the secret to our growth is blowing people away with an incredible product and service, and always going above and beyond to make it right when we mess up. If you do that enough times, you can build something special.”

While it might be simple at heart, the business has garnered attention from publications like Southern Living, Food & Wine and Huffington Post.

“It’s incredible and humbling,” Rose said“When we started, it was just a night and weekend gig. We never imagined it would be what it is today, but we’re eternally grateful!

They’ve even gotten some celebrity love.

“I remember being set up at Imogene + Willie in Nashville during our fourth season, and Jack White pulled up in his Tesla and goes ‘I’ve been waiting a long time for y’all to be back!’” Rose said. “It blew my mind.”

With all that attention, they still appreciate their Owensboro ties.

“My sister still lives in town, and my parents were there until last year,” he said.
